Artist Exhibition: DeVon: Gib Singleton Gallery - Feb 12th & 13th
Gib Singleton Gallery is proud to present a special two-day exhibition featuring contemporary Pop artist DeVon, whose work carries the torch of Pop Art into the twenty-first century.
Tracing his artistic lineage directly back to Andy Warhol through mentorship and collaboration with the late Steve Kaufman, Warhol’s former studio assistant, DeVon stands firmly within the legacy of American Pop Art while pushing it boldly forward. Since emerging onto the global art scene, DeVon has presented more than sixty solo exhibitions worldwide, with works held in museums as well as prominent private and corporate collections.
DeVon’s art immerses viewers in the vibrant language of pop culture, including comics, film, television, rock-and-roll, and the icons who shape our collective imagination. His mixed-media works merge painting and photography, collaging imagery from modern magazines and books before sealing each piece beneath layers of thick, glossy resin. The surfaces are energized with paint splatter and encrusted with diamond dust, glitter, and jewels, transforming familiar figures into luminous, larger-than-life presences.
Like his Pop Art predecessors, DeVon elevates the imagery of everyday culture into high art. His work functions as a contemporary remix that blends quotation and commentary, reframing nostalgic icons as modern gods, goddesses, and secular saints. With wit, optimism, and emotional resonance, each piece tells a timeless story of the hero’s journey and, ultimately, our own.
Join us at Gib Singleton Gallery on February 12th and 13th at 4:00PM - 7:00PM for an immersive exhibition celebrating Pop Art’s legacy, reinvention, and enduring cultural power.
